Our corporate office also enjoys bringing people together to foster community within our staff as well. Here are a few highlights.
Community Generosity in Action!
We’re thrilled to share that residents at Tree Tops Apartments came together and donated 30 bags of clothing to support those in need!
As a token of appreciation for this incredible generosity, one lucky resident was selected to receive $150 off their December rent—a small way to say thank you for helping make a big difference.
This is what community is all about—neighbors supporting neighbors and showing kindness in every way possible.
Fall Appreciation Gathering
The team came together at Rough Cut Social Club in Fargo for a Fall Appreciation event centered on team building. With axe throwing, social games, and some friendly competition, it was the perfect break from the usual routine.
The casual atmosphere helped everyone connect outside of work, making it a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and enjoy time together. It wasn’t just about the games—it was about coming together as a team, sharing a few laughs, good food, appreciating what we’ve accomplished so far and setting the tone for continued collaboration in the months ahead.
Team Building at Minnesota Horse and Hunt
We came together for a day filled with fun, camaraderie, and a little friendly competition at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club!
It was a great way to celebrate the fantastic team we have, enjoy the beautiful MN fall weather, and, of course, show off some shooting skills! Events like these remind us how lucky we are to work with such an amazing group of people.
Summer Events at Windom Gables
This past summer at Windom Gables has been filled with engaging and community-building events:
Boba by the Pool: The summer kicked off with a lively pool party featuring bubble tea, baked goodies, and summer tunes. Both regular attendees and many new faces enjoyed catching up and sharing their ideas for future events, appreciating the chance to get to know their neighbors better.
Walking Tacos: On a beautiful day, residents enjoyed walking tacos, cold soda, and popsicles as they made their way to the pool and other Sunday activities. This event was particularly popular with the neighborhood boys who spent the afternoon playing together. Many residents expressed their excitement about the regular events, which help them feel more connected to their community and office staff.
S'more S'mores: Redemption from the last bonfire event, this week's gathering featured clear skies and warm weather. Residents came out to enjoy s'mores, soda, and summer tunes, contributing to a true celebration of summer. Kids brought out chalk, and adults provided chairs and extra firewood, creating a communal and festive atmosphere.
Root Beer Float Social: The Windom Gables community enjoyed an awesome root beer float social where residents mingled and indulged in delicious floats. The event provided a refreshing treat in the hot weather and was enjoyed by both kids and adults. This enjoyable gathering strengthened neighborhood bonds and left everyone with a smile.
Each of these events showcased the vibrant community spirit of Windom Gables, providing opportunities for residents to connect and enjoy their time together. ND Thanksgiving Potluck
In early November, the Fargo Hegenes family got together for our Annual Hegenes Thanksgiving Potluck! We celebrated 50 years of Hegenes properties and enjoyed home cooked meals brought in by the team. Gary came up along with a few others from the MN Corporate office to help us celebrate. We enjoyed hot food, good laughs, and great company!

Horse & Hunt Club
On a bright, beautiful October day, Hegenes Properties sent all MN maintenance technicians in the Minneapolis area to the Horse & Hunt club, where the guys enjoyed a few hours of shooting clay and hanging out. Our maintenance techs are the lifeblood of Hegenes, and they do such a great job serving our residents, so we try our best to give them days of fun, relaxation and enjoyment.
Bob Langbein's Retirement Party
Bob Langbein was hired in 2009, serving people at Tree Tops Apartment Homes for almost 14 full years. He worked hard and he played hard – at least with the animals that lived at Tree Tops. Every dog stopped to see him because they knew he had a dog treat in his pocket. In his free time, he loved to color pictures and would often send the beautiful art he colored to his property team to brighten their day. Bob embodied Honor, Care, Excellence and Relationships with all the residents at Tree Tops, especially the ones with a tail.
A Heartfelt Thanksgiving Celebration
Our North Dakota team gathered for a Thanksgiving Potluck, and it was a true celebration of gratitude and togetherness!
From delicious homemade dishes to heartfelt laughter, the event showcased the spirit of our team—supportive, creative, and connected. Beyond the food, it was a chance to reflect on what we’re most thankful for: a strong, caring team and a workplace that feels like family.

Employee Appreciation Breakfast
We hosted a special Employee Appreciation Breakfast to recognize the hard work and dedication of our team. The menu featured a delicious assortment of fresh bagels, complete with a variety of cream cheese spreads, jams, and toppings to suit every taste. It was a wonderful opportunity to gather, enjoy some great food, and celebrate the commitment of everyone who helps make our company a success. Thanks to all who joined us—we couldn’t do it without you!
Resident BBQ at AVID Uptown
At AVID Apartments in Uptown Minneapolis, we love bringing our community together with fun and engaging events! Our recent resident gathering was a hit, filled with laughter, excitement, and a touch of friendly competition.
One of the highlights was the "Lucky Duck" game. Residents eagerly picked their ducks from the pool, hoping to find one with a dollar sign on the bottom. Those who did were thrilled to receive a special coupon for money off their rent. It was a delightful way to add a bit of luck and joy to everyone's day!
We also set up a thrilling balloon dart game. The challenge was to pop a balloon, but the real excitement came when a dart hit a glitter-filled balloon.
Those lucky enough to hit one got to choose from an array of fantastic prizes, including stress balls, adult coloring books, and tumblers. The sparkling surprise added an extra layer of fun to the event, making it an unforgettable experience for all who participated.
These events are more than just games—they're an opportunity for our residents to connect, unwind, and enjoy the vibrant community at AVID Apartments. We can't wait to bring you more exciting activities and create more wonderful memories together. Stay tuned for our next event!

Emergency Food Pantry
The Fargo Hegenes Team had the honor of volunteering for the first time at the emergency food pantry recently. We helped sort out the inventory to ensure each family was getting an equal amount of all the food and toiletries they needed. Our carpenters even went around to make sure everything in the pantry was working properly, such as carts and freezer doors. After only 2 hours, we had tables full of bags ready to be sent out to families in need. We are excited to make this an annual event here at Hegenes Properties in Fargo! The Emergency Food Pantry, located at 1101 4th Ave N, Fargo ND 58102, has been in business for 45 years, providing food and hope for families in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Hegenes Leadership Conference
For two days, the Hegenes Properties team came together for an immersive Leadership Retreat. We were honored to have
Mark Deterding as a guest speaker, sharing invaluable insights on leadership and personal growth.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on this journey of growth, connection, and shared values. Together, we're building something special at Hegenes Properties, where we work every day to better fulfill our motto:
People Serving People.
Our time together on the Leadership Retreat also included memorable meals, leisurely pontoon rides, and competitive rounds of mini golf. Everybody also enjoyed interactive training exercises where our community managers, corporate office employees, and maintenance supervisors collaborated to explore how we can best embody Hegenes' core values: Honor, Caring, Excellence, and Relationships. These discussions were not only enlightening but also a lot of fun!
The Village: Meet-and-Greet
The Village hosted a meet-and-greet between the residents and new management on July 15th, shortly after Hegenes Properties' acquisition of the property. It was held lakeside in Excelsior, and the residents enjoyed coffee and donuts while getting to know their new Community Manager, Garrett Olson, and the Minnesota Regional Manager, Grant Sather.
'Hegenes Open'
MN Regional Manager Grant Sather won the first ever ‘Hegenes Open’ at Arrowwood, scoring a 25 on 9 holes of difficult put-put. If anybody asks who the best golfer at Hegenes Properties is, you now have an answer!
